چکیده

AbstructFully coupled dynamic electro-thermal simulation on chip and circuit level is presented. Temperature dependent thermal conductivity of silicon is taken into account, thus solving the nonlinear heat diffusion equation. The numerical solution is carried out by using the industry-standard simulator SABER, therefore for electro-thermmal simulations we are able to use the common electrical compact models by adding a heatsource and thermal pins to them. The application of this technique and need for electro-thermmal simulation is illustrated with the simulation of a current control circuit built into a multiwatt package.

Predictive microwave device design by coupled electro - t hermal simulation based on a fully physical thermal model

Coupled electro-thermal simulations are performed to demonstrate predictive design of microwave devices. These simulations are based on an original, fully physical, thermal impedance matrix approach, capable of describing 'nearly exactly' time-dependent heat flow in complex 3-dimensional systems, whilst requiring no model reduction for electro-thermal CAD. This thermal model is validated by the...

Self-consistent Fully Dynamic Electro-thermal Simulation of Power Hbts

A new self-consistent dynamic electro-thermal model for power HBTs is presented coupling a circuit-oriented electrical model, fitted on experimental data, with a full frequency domain thermal model. The thermal model provides the exact frequency behaviour of the device thermal impedance through a quasi-3D approach. The electro-thermal self-consistent solution is achieved, in large-signal period...

Dynamic, self consistent electro-thermal simulation of power microwave devices including the effect of surface metallizations

We present an efficient simulation technique to account for the thermal spreading effects of surface metallizations in the self-consistent dynamic electro-thermal analysis of power microwave devices. Electro-thermal self-consistency is achieved by solving the coupled nonlinear system made of a temperature dependent device electrical model, and of an approximate description of the device thermal...

Steady-State and Transient Electro-Thermal Simulation of Power Devices and Circuits Based on a Fully Physical Thermal Model

An original approach is presented to the timedependent thermal modelling of complex 3-dimensional electronic systems, from metallised power FETs and MMICs, though MCMs, up to circuit board level. This method o ers a powerful alternative to conventional numerical thermal simulation techniques. In contrast to semi-analytical Fourier approaches involving DFT-FFT, the method is based on explicit, f...

Development and Application of an ALE Large Deformation Formulation

This paper presents a complete derivation and implementation of the Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian (ALE) formulation for the simulation of nonlinear static and dynamic problems in solid mechanics. While most of the previous work done on ALE for dynamic applications was mainly based on operator split and explicit calculations, this work derives the quasi-static and dynamic ALE equations in its si...
